The Irish ACCEPT team from UCD’s School of Politics and International Relations organised an ACCEPT stakeholder workshop on the theme ‘The Embodiment of Tolerance in Discourses and Practices addressing Cultural Diversity in the Political Sphere in Ireland’ on Thursday 16th February in the Central Hotel, Dublin. The aim of this event was to present the work of the ACCEPT Pluralism Project and to establish a space of communication and linkage between researchers, policy makers and practitioners working in areas relevant to the project’s focus. In particular ACCEPT Pluralism Irish team aimed to discuss issues of tolerance and respect for cultural and religious difference in Ireland today, and how claims for tolerance, accommodation and respect have been/are received and discussed in concrete areas of social life such as education and politics.
