I am taking part in this project as the research assistant of Prof. Dr. Ayhan Kaya, who is the director of country study of this project corresponding to Turkey under the partnership of Istanbul Bilgi University.
After having completed my undergraduate study in international relations at Bilgi University in 2005, I received an MSc degree in the Middle East Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, in September 2008. I finalised my master’s in the Middle East Politics by the accomplishment of the dissertation which I wrote on social movements and their impact on political and social change with reference to the Islamist social movement in Egypt.
Since September 2009, I have been doing the obligatory coursework in order to achieve a PhD in Political Science which I pursue in the Department of International Relations at Bilgi University. Eventually, I intend to conduct a research for the PhD dissertation on a comparison of the neo-patrimonial/informal networks in the shanty towns of Istanbul and Cairo, in which the marginalised segments are organised into an anti-system social movement.
